This dude.. I am relocating to where he lives in a few months, hardly know him, be I do feel this empathy, so I asked him if he wanted to be mates once I get there, you know? hang out, go to the pub from time to time, possibly do some bike rides, concerts and things.
What I'm thinking is: what if I get there and actually feel attracted to him, coz even do I don't know him very well, something tells me that there is a great chance I might feel attracted to him once I see him again. So if that happens, being that I have already kinda institutionalized this future mate thing, do you think I could still fix/change things to get them on the dating path??? lolol
That is if I do feel attracted to him once we meet again in a few months. Something tells me I will tho.. something tells me I already do actually :/ I mean who am I kidding, mates, yeah right?!

All I can read from this is you asked him to be mates as someone to be friends with when you move.
You can easily become more then friends when you get to know each other.
The only time the friend zone comes into play is when a friend asks another to go out or is going out with a friend and one of them decides ';its best we just be friends';.
Lets say there's A and B.
A rejects B, B moves on and goes after C*. A starts to like B but since B has no feelings for A anymore A is stuck in friend zone.
Or A rejects B, A goes out with C*. B still likes A but stuck in friend zone.

So yeah, don't worry about things now. It can change later unless you said want to be mates AND ONLY MATES NOTHING MORE CAN HAPPEN BETWEEN US, but I doubt you said that so you should be good.
